Environmental responsibility
Environmental responsibility
We see it as our responsibility to limit the company’s negative impact on the environment and the surrounding community. Environmental responsibility is an integral part of our corporate governance, and that is why we have begun the work of mapping our environmental footprint and focusing on continuous improvement.
Employees
We also place great emphasis on increasing awareness and understanding of environmental responsibility among our employees, encouraging responsible behavior in all aspects of our business. We believe that all our employees have a role to play in our sustainability efforts. We actively work to raise awareness and provide training to our employees regarding the environment and sustainability so that we can continuously improve. Our environmental responsibility is also reflected in our values: quality, competence, responsibility, and innovation.
Suppliers
We take our environmental responsibility seriously, including in our collaboration with suppliers and partners. We prioritize promoting sustainable practices and require environmental certification and trancparency act from all our suppliers. In doing so, we ensure that our partners also take responsibility for environmental considerations and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Reducing our environmental impact
We aim to reduce our environmental impact by responsibly managing various types of waste. Our primary types of waste include cardboard, paper, plastic, e-waste, glass, and metal. We practice waste sorting and monitor the amount of general waste through Stena Recycling.
Bredengen is a proud member of RENAS and Grønt Punkt (Green Point). This ensures that we handle our e-waste in a responsible manner and contribute to recycling efforts.
We are also committed to addressing the waste situation with our suppliers. We ensure mutual standards by ensuring that suppliers comply with REACH and RoHS guidelines. These chemical regulations ensure that the production, distribution, and use of chemicals do not pose a threat to human health and the environment.
Certified
For several years, Bredengen has been certified according to the quality and environmental standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. These certifications serve as a guide for businesses on how to implement quality and environmental management systems. Our certifications enable us to develop and implement strategies and goals that consider legal requirements, customer demands, and information on significant environmental aspects.
Bredengen AS environmental goals:
Certification: Our goal is to maintain our ISO 14001 certification. Within 2 years, the goal is also to have a complete overview of which of our suppliers are ISO 14001 or Miljøfyrtårn certified and reduce the proportion of those who are not certified.
Waste sorting: Our goal is to increase the degree of local waste recycling.
Reuse: The goal is to increase the reuse of cardboard and paper and reduce the amount that is discarded and recycled.
Consumption: The goal is to reduce the consumption and disposal of plastic waste.
Power: The goal is to become self-sufficient in environmentally friendly power and reduce consumption.
Transportation: The goal is to transition all customer transportation to electric vehicles or other environmentally friendly transportation alternatives by 2028. Additionally, we aim to reduce the number of shipments per customer by consolidating deliveries.
